...offers vacations focusing on sea ecotourism...
Since 2001, Ecotours Thalassa offers vacations focusing on sea ecotourism, sailing and watching and studying dolphins and whales, combining the love of sailing with the passion and knowledge about dolphins and the marine environment. The architect and coordinator of all activities, biologist and oceanographer Vassilis Podiadis, is a sailing buff with over 40,000 miles of sailing as a captain in the Mediterranean and the Atlantic.
The company offers vacation packages of sailing aboard a fully staffed Catamaran. The vessels visit a different cove or port each night, after trailing the coast during the daytime looking for dolphins along the way. The crew always includes a marine scientist willing to answer all your questions and provide valuable information on issues regarding the marine environment. During the sail, passengers have the opportunity to do any or all of the following:
• Watch the dolphins as they are frolicking next to the vessel and listen to their communication received with a hydrophone; admire the splendor and serene presence of the whales; get acquainted with the microcosm of the plankton through a microscope and explore an underwater world living in deep sea-bottom.
• Practice in underwater photography and free diving; learn the summer star formations and watch the moon through a telescope.
• Swim at beaches accessible only by boat; admire beguiling mooring-coves and quaint harbours and enjoy unique sunsets.
• Learn everything there is to know about the vessel and the art of sailing under the watchful eye of the captain.
Those who do not feel up to doing anything of the above may just enjoy sunbathing on the net.
