The journey takes off in Vrontados, the head village of the Municipality, which boasts a splendid Coastal Zone ending in Daskalopetra, the archaeological site of the Temple of Cybele and, according to tradition, the location where Homer taught. At a distance of eight kilometers, travelers make the first contact with the interior of the Municipality, the village of Karyes, opening to a panoramic view of the channel that separates the island of Chios from the western coast of Turkey. Drakospilia (Dragon's Cave) is located here, under the Liontaropetra (Lion's Rock) which bears significant inscriptions.

At a distance of four kilometers, a side road takes to Nea Moni (New Monastery), the 11th-century monastic complex nestled in an undisturbed natural environment, which is included in UNESCO's World Cultural Heritage list. The monasteries of Aghioi Pateres (Holy Fathers) and Aghios Markos (St. Mark) offer unexpected company during the journey, each with its own separate history. On the return to the main road artery and at a distance of four kilometers, the medieval fortress-village of Avgonyma dominates the area.
Several guesthouses and restaurants line the spacious square of the village. From this point and at a distance of a mere five kilometers, the road takes directly to Anavatos. Perched on a promontory, the medieval settlement embraces the walled Acropolis where the Church of Taxiarches and the Triorofo (Three-storey building) - in a peculiar co-existence once housed the Church of Panagia (Virgin Mary), the school, the olive press and the cistern of the Acropolis. A path leads 10 the side overlooking the Aegean Sea and then to Sidirounta, another medieval fortress-village with a unique view of the sea and the sunset.
At the feet of the village visitors will find some of the most beautiful beaches on the island and next to it a system of "vigles" (watchtowers), as well as the Byzantine chapels of Aghios Yannis and Aghios Giorgis in Prastia. The path crosses through a virgin, age-old pine-tree forest. On the return road through the Chios-Volissou street one passes by Flori which has links to the Homeric tradition and is connected to the Archaeological Site of Rimocastro. The Sport-Tourist village of Aipous is perched on the edge of the plateau, with popular tourist and sport installations, air-powered generators and a 150.000-cubic-metre cistern.
The journey ends on the eastern side where visitors successively pass through the municipality's villages of Pantoukios, Sykiada and Lagada, which participate in the NATURA program for northern Chios.
